Singapore, October 21st, 2025 – Part of the womanhood journey is experiencing hormonal changes and physical transformations. These changes happen naturally as women age and go through different phases in life, such as childbirth or menopause, affecting various areas in the body, including the intimate areas.

It is common for women to notice symptoms such as loss of firmness or strength in the vaginal and pelvic floor as they age. While these concerns are normal, however, they can affect women’s comfort and confidence.

The good news is, clinical treatments are available to minimise the discomfort. Nowadays, there are available procedures in Singapore, such as BTL EMSELLA to treat a weakened pelvic floor and IntimaLase for vaginal rejuvenation. Here is what you need to know about the treatments and how they can help treat feminine health issues.

Review of BTL EMSELLA and IntimaLase In Treating Feminine Health

BTL EMSELLA® is a non-invasive treatment that aims to restore pelvic floor strength. The treatment works by using a chair with High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) to target the entire pelvic floor. The HIFEM triggers supramaximal contractions, equivalent to thousands of muscle contractions, which are higher than having multiple Kegel exercises on your own.

The session itself is also quick, lasting less than 30 minutes, and patients do not even need to take off their clothes. It is not painful, but you may feel a hint of rhythmic contracting sensation, which is normal and an indicator that the treatment works. Since it does not require any downtime, you can resume your daily activities right after the treatment. While the treatment is tolerable, it is not suitable for pregnant women or individuals who have undergone hip replacement.

You can feel the improvement in your pelvic floor after just a few sessions, with complete results after six sessions. After the treatment, you can feel that your pelvic muscles have started to strengthen, controllable bladder, and your sexual sensation has started to reappear.

IntimaLase is also a non-invasive treatment, but it aims to treat vaginal laxity. The treatment uses a laser to stimulate collagen production, which tightens and strengthens vaginal tissue.

The session starts with a doctor consultation, where you will get your medical records reviewed and followed by an examination of the targeted area. Once the examination is done, you will move to the laser treatment. The session itself is relatively quick, and takes around 20 – 30 minutes, during which the laser pulses are delivered inside the vaginal canal. Patients may feel a warm sensation in the intimate areas, but significant discomfort rarely occurs.

Side effects are rare, but they might come as mild redness, swelling, or light discharge. Patients can resume their daily routine right after the procedure. However, it is advised that patients need to avoid sexual intercourse, tampon use, hot baths, and heavy exercise for around 5 – 7 days to allow the vaginal area to heal properly.

Patients can typically see improvements within 1 – 3 months after the treatment, with complete results being noticeable within 3 – 6 months. The result can last up to a year or beyond, with maintenance sessions once a year.

How To Tell If I Have Vaginal Laxity or a Weak Pelvic Floor?

Vaginal Laxity, also known as Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS), is a condition where vaginal tissue is experiencing loss of elasticity and tightness. It usually occurs as a result of aging and overstretching due to childbirth. Common symptoms include:

  • Looseness in the vaginal canal
  • Reduced intimacy sensation
  • Reduced confidence and sexual satisfaction
  • Vaginal dryness, especially if hormonal changes are involved

Weak Pelvic Floor happens when the muscles and tissues within the pelvic area are weakened, stretched, and damaged. Common symptoms that many have experienced are pelvic pain and urinary incontinence. The symptoms, however, can vary and include other signs such as:

  • A leak when coughing, sneezing, or lifting
  • High urgency and frequency to urinate
  • Faecal incontinence and uncontrollable gas
  • Constipation
  • A bulge appears at the vaginal opening
  • Heavy pressure in the vagina
  • Tampon that doesn’t stay in place or fall out easily
  • Pain during sexual intercourse

While a weak pelvic floor is often associated with women, it can also happen to men, especially if they have undergone prostate surgery.

Final Verdict

Overall, both BTL EMSELLA and IntimaLase are great options if you are looking for treatment to address feminine health concerns. But the right ones for you depend on your root of problem.

BTL EMSELLA is a suitable option if you want to have lasting results to address a weak pelvic floor. Kegels could help, but they require consistent effort and time to finally see improvement. BTL EMSELLA offers a relatively time-efficient approach that can help you achieve faster and long-lasting results.

IntimaLase is a preferable choice when you are seeking non-surgical treatment for vaginal laxity with minimal downtime. Unlike other treatments that commonly address only one concern at a time, IntimaLase can address multiple concerns, such as vaginal tightness and related symptoms, including mild dryness or decreased sexual satisfaction.

Remember to consult with qualified doctors prior to any treatments for your feminine health. They will help you to understand your concerns and guide you to choose the suitable treatment for your specific condition. If you are considering the right treatment for vaginal laxity or a weakened pelvic floor in Singapore, you may consult with experienced doctors at Prologue Clinic and Prologue Women’s Wellness, located in Ngee Ann City.
