A first-gen student’s life is hard due to constant pressure to perform their best. Whether it comes from their parents, friends, or themselves, they must put their best foot forward despite the challenges. Parents in some cases might have high expectations from their children and may overlook their efforts. However, rewarding students’ hard work with honorable gifts like the first generation stoles can boost their confidence and help them achieve more goals in life. Supporting them with little gestures like these fosters positivity and helps them stay motivated. Finishing the academic journey, especially with distinction is no small feat. In this blog, we will talk about their different struggles and some fantastic ideas to enjoy their accomplishments.

The Struggles Are Unavoidable But Paramount To Success

Amy, a first-gen student always felt that her parents expected her to get an A+, and even after receiving straight A’s, there was no appreciation or excitement. However, she believes she stopped seeking external validation and focused on personal growth. She does not put work for praise but to create a meaningful life and add value. According to a study, people who do not face challenges in life rarely possess the ability to preserve and the need to push themselves. The first-generational students due to their circumstances develop inner strength & resilience that sets them apart from their peers. There are moments when they do not fit in with the crowd due to different upbringings and financial statuses, but they should not stop this from living their life big.

Tips For Having a Legendary Celebration

Success should be celebrated as we have been mentioning. The most popular way is by hosting a dinner party for loved ones. We understand you would not want to go overboard on the budget, but you can still throw a memorable one. Start by creating a list of guests. Fewer people will save the cost of food, drinks, and cleanup. If you have a friend, you can partner with them to divide the expenses. Plan early and send out the invites so people can arrange tickets and accommodation. You can select a theme, and by using graduation props you can make a cool set-up. Accessories like graduation flags, stoles, balloons, garlands, and backdrop highlight the venue beautifully. You can hand out party favors like thank you cards, homemade chocolates, hand-made soaps, and more.

Setting the Tone Right for the Future Generation

The hard-working students inspire others by being a role model. Education is important however in many cases some parents might not understand its significance due to limited knowledge. This prevents them from fully grasping the efforts and perseverance their children require creating unrealistic expectations. When other kids in the community get success regardless of their problems, it produces a ripple effect. It demonstrates that by working hard, setting goals, and putting efforts in the right direction everything is attainable. Apart from external rewards, first-gen students possess soft skills like resilience and perseverance which help them develop empathy and make them well-rounded individuals.

Finally Shining Bright in Their Convocation Ceremony

First-gen students possess an immense potential worth celebrating, especially in graduation ceremonies. That is why highlighting their achievements can make the event special. To make a great impression as we mentioned in the introduction, you can use graduation stoles that are embroidered or imprinted with the student’s information. Adding details like your name, university name, and logo, class of 202*, and college major creates a unique and meaningful sash. Some graduates like to share their stories with a personal or religious quote. Choose a color that you like or that represents your field of study. Also, if you enjoy bling, include rhinestones to create a one-of-a-kind stole. Only a few people are fortunate enough to graduate, so seize the opportunity and create beautiful memories.
