Who Is a Good Candidate for IVF?

IVF is a fertility treatment that involves the removal of eggs from the body, fertilizing them, and then implanting them into the uterus. This advanced medical process offers hope to those who have been facing infertility issues for one reason or another. Knowing who is a good candidate for IVF is necessary for making informed decisions regarding reproductive health. Here is more information about who is a good candidate for IVF:

Individuals Experiencing Infertility Issues

Some individuals and couples struggle with natural conception due to a variety of medical conditions. Women with ovulatory disorders like PCOS can opt for IVF if other fertility treatments do not work. Women with endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, can turn to IVF if other techniques are ineffective in helping them conceive. IVF is also used for people who have unexplained infertility issues. Sometimes, even after going through all the tests, doctors are unable to find out the exact reason for infertility.

Women With Damaged Fallopian Tubes

The fallopian tubes play a major role in natural conception. They facilitate the meeting of the egg and sperm. If the tubes are blocked or damaged by infections, previous surgeries, or medical conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease, natural conception may be difficult. IVF eliminates the need for the fallopian tubes to facilitate the fertilization process by fertilizing the egg outside the body before implanting the embryo into the uterus.

Couples Facing Male Factor Infertility

Some of the factors that may affect conception include low sperm concentration, low sperm mobility, and abnormal sperm shape. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is used in conjunction with IVF. A single healthy sperm is directly injected into an egg to enhance the likelihood of fertilization. This option is helpful for many men who experience reproductive health issues.

Women With Diminished Ovarian Reserve

As a woman grows older, their ovarian reserve, or the number and quality of eggs, tends to reduce. Some women may experience this decline earlier than expected, which makes it hard to conceive naturally. IVF can be an option for women with low ovarian reserve through hormonal treatment to develop multiple eggs for fertilization. Egg donation may be an option for those whose ovaries have been damaged or have stopped functioning properly.

Individuals Seeking Genetic Screening

IVF is suitable for people who want to go through genetic testing before they conceive. Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) enables embryos to be tested for genetic diseases before they are implanted in the uterus. This is especially significant for those with a family history of genetic disorders. It may also be helpful for those who have had multiple miscarriages due to chromosomal issues. IVF can increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy.

Individuals Wanting Fertility Preservation

Some people want to postpone childbearing due to various factors. Fertility preservation is one of the ways to achieve this. Women who have been diagnosed with cancer may decide to preserve their eggs before they undergo chemotherapy or radiation that may affect fertility. IVF is a significant tool in fertility management since it enables individuals to collect and freeze eggs, embryos, or sperm for future use.

Take Control of Your Reproductive Health

IVF has provided opportunities for many people and couples who have fertility issues. Consult a reputable fertility clinic that offers IVF services. The right clinic will have experienced specialists, individualized treatment plans, and a good success rate. Choose a center with a caring approach, state-of-the-art equipment, and all the necessary services for the treatment. Working with a licensed fertility clinic will help you overcome challenges that are stopping you from becoming pregnant.
