What Are the Types of Steel?

Carbon Steel

Alloy Steel

  • Manganese
  • Nickel
  • Chromium

Alloy steel is often used in industries like construction and automotive manufacture.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel comprises a group of materials that are well-known for their corrosion resistance. It is widely used in kitchen appliances, medical instruments, and industrial equipment. Stainless steel is further categorized into:

  • Austenitic Stainless Steel
  • Ferritic Stainless Steel
  • Martensitic Stainless Steel

The various grades of stainless steel allow it to be tailored for specific tasks.

Tool Steel

Tool steel is designed for manufacturing tools and contains varying amounts of tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium. It’s exceptional hardness and resistance to wear make it invaluable in reducing wear-and-tear in cutting and shaping applications.

The right type of steel can make all the difference in your project. Consider factors like:

  • Mechanical properties needed
  • Corrosion resistance requirements
  • Intended application
