The internet is massive. It contains billions of web pages and a plethora of information about people, companies, and anything else you need.

Ultimately, you have access to most of the information in the world at your fingertips. While this is great for finding general information and making simple search queries, it’s not great for finding people because when you run a search you’ll usually find the most popular person with that name.

The good news is that you can still find someone online as long as you use the right tools. Read on to learn more about how to find someone online below.

What You Need to Start Your Search

Looking for someone online is easy, but only if you have some information to help you get on the right track – without any information, you won’t be able to find much of anything. While you don’t need much to get started, here’s what we recommend having before you begin your search:

  • Their name and any names they may have had in the past
  • Any schools or universities they went to
  • Known associates and family members
  • Social media profiles
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Hobbies
  • Where they’re located
  • Phone number

You don’t need all of this information to search for someone online but having more information will always help.

The 3 Best Ways to Find Someone Online

There are a handful of ways to find someone online. You can use a Google search, check social media, or use a people lookup tool, such as a reverse email lookup tool. We always recommend the latter because people search tools are search engines designed for finding someone online. With a reverse email lookup tool, you can enter someone’s email address and uncover information about them, like their name, social media profiles, and more

People Search Tools

People search tools are the best for finding someone online. While you can use Google and other search engines, we recommend starting with a platform designed for finding people, and our favorite choice is Information.com. It’s an online platform that allows you to find people online using their name, phone number, or address.

Information.com’s people search tool is easy to use, and once you enter someone’s name, you can narrow down your search results, select the person you’re looking for, and open the full report. Within the report, you’ll find their social media accounts, email addresses, dating profiles, criminal records, public records, and much more.

We always recommend starting with a tool like this because it’s connected to millions of public records databases that are designed to pull information about specific people.

Social Media

Another great way to find someone online is to use social media. According to reports from Facebook, there are more than 3 billion users on the platform and these numbers are similar for several other social media platforms. Therefore, there’s a good chance that you can find someone by typing their name into the search engine on the platform.

When using social media, we recommend starting with the big platforms like Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn. You can also try some of the less popular platforms, but you might not have as much luck.

While social media is a great way to find people, it’s not perfect. Unfortunately, many people have unique usernames, so searching their name might not always work. If you have no luck with their name, you can use their phone number on some platforms like Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

Google Search

Google is one of the largest search engines you can use, and it’s popular for finding information, people, and anything else you need. If you have some basic information about someone, like a username or full name, you can enter it into the search bar to see what you can find.

When it comes to Google, make sure you make the search as defined as possible and use plenty of keywords to narrow down your options.

Google is an efficient tool for finding information, but it’s not the best for finding people. For this reason, we recommend using a people search tool instead. They function better for finding specific people, even if you have limited information.

Find Anyone Online Today!

When it comes to finding people online, we have you covered. Any of the resources we covered will help you get the job done and provide accurate search results for the person you’re searching for.

While each method has its perks, we recommend starting with a proper people search engine to avoid wasting any time. From there, you can explore their social media accounts or go to Google with more information to learn more about them.
