5 Reasons Blue Lizard Became My Family’s Go-To Sunblock

When I look back over the years, finding the right sunscreen for my family has always been tricky. For the longest time, I didn’t really know what to look for each time it came to buy a new bottle, which caused me to swap and change from brand to brand. This was the familiar pattern, however, that all stopped when I came across Blue Lizard mineral sunscreen.

Since doing so, it’s now become our family’s go-to sun protection option, as there are just so many advantages it offers over traditional products. I was so impressed that I had to write a blog about our experience to spread the word about why my husband, kids and I all love it.

Blue Lizard Sunscreen Didn’t Make My Son’s Eczema Flare Up

One of the biggest problems that sunscreen had given me in the past was that most made my son’s eczema flare up. Some of the products I used to use had formulas that protected my son’s skin from the sun but also led to something of a miserable time afterwards. However, to my son’s delight, Blue Lizard sunscreen doesn’t have the same effect because of how gentle it is.

Their products are mineral-based, which I’ve found out means they use zinc oxide as the active ingredient that stops the sun’s rays. What’s more, their products also don’t contain fragrances and parabens (unlike other options I’ve found), meaning the sunscreen we have doesn’t cause any other irritation issues.

Mineral Sunscreens Are Better for the Planet

Our household has always been an eco-conscious one, and we were shocked to learn that the chemical sunscreens we’ve used before are believed to harm coral reefs. As soon my kids found out that was the case, they wouldn’t use it any more – which obviously isn’t good when you’re trying to do right by them and protect them from the sun.

Thankfully, mineral sunscreens don’t have the same impact on nature. That’s because they don’t contain ingredients like octinoxate and oxybenzone that cause so much damage to marine life. Now my little ones are quite keen to slap it on when we go outside, as in their minds, they’re protecting the earth each time to put some on.

Smart Bottle Technology & Dermatologist-Recommended

Another nice feature that this brand offers is the UV-sensitive bottle that their sunscreen comes in. Cleverly, the bottle turns blue when hit by UV rays, which is not only fun for the kids but also acts as a reminder to put the product on. Moreover, it helps to prevent you from leaving the bottle out in direct sunlight – something that can make your sunscreen expire before its expiration date.

Lastly (and this is also a pretty big deal), this sunscreen is dermatologist-recommended which gives me great confidence that my family’s skin is well looked after. Knowing that skin experts trust this brand for sun protection gives me lots of reassurance.

We Love Blue Lizard Sunscreen & I Think You Will Too

If this brand had been like all the others we’d used in the past, we’d have simply moved on to another – because that’s just how we did things. However, now we’ve found what we see as perhaps the best sunscreen fit for our family, there’s no way we’re changing again.

Whether we’re enjoying a casual day out at the beach or heading out camping, we’ll be trusting this sunscreen to ensure our skin stays safe and healthy. Try it out today. Maybe you’ll end up feeling the same way.
